This watercolour landscape was painted in 2018, inspired by a forest stream in the hills of Bandarban, Bangladesh. Although I had explored many similar landscapes in earlier years, I could not join my friend’s journey on this particular visit. Instead, a series of photographs he shared became the starting point for this painting.

Rather than reproducing the photographs, I revisited my own memories of wandering through the streams, forests, and hills of Bandarban. The painting became a quiet reconstruction of those personal experiences, where remembered light, moisture, silence, and distance gradually replaced literal documentation.

The flowing stream, scattered stones, dense vegetation, and mist-covered hills evoke a landscape that exists somewhere between observation and memory. It reflects not only the physical beauty of Bandarban but also the emotional connection that certain places continue to hold long after we leave them.

Like many of my landscape paintings, this work is an attempt to preserve an intimate relationship with nature through the language of watercolour, where transparency and spontaneity allow memory to remain alive within the painted surface.
