Searching for the Missed Mystery of Life: Threshold-2

This drawing belongs to a period when I felt I was passing through one of the most significant thresholds of my life.

After returning from South Korea, I became deeply involved in curatorial practice, organising exhibitions, and developing Porapara Space for Artists. At the same time, I was navigating many personal and collective experiences that profoundly shaped my thinking.

During this period, I began to question not only what I was drawing, but how I was drawing.

Using thousands of repeated dots and delicate marks, I explored whether sustained physical repetition could gradually transform mental awareness. Across many spiritual traditions, repetitive actions such as prayer, chanting, or ritual movement create a rhythm that encourages concentration and inner stillness. My interest has always been less in the words of those practices than in the repeated bodily action itself.

Through these drawings, I began to understand artistic practice as a contemplative process. For me, the act of making the artwork often carries greater significance than the finished image.

Another recurring presence throughout my work is the moon. I do not use it simply as an astronomical object or decorative symbol. Through my own lived experience, I have often sensed a subtle relationship between the changing phases of the moon and the rhythms of my body and mind. Whether this connection is physical, psychological, symbolic, or intuitive is less important than the experience itself. In my work, the moon becomes a quiet reminder that human existence unfolds within larger cosmic cycles.
