Searching for the Missed Mystery of Life: Threshold

This drawing was created during one of the most transformative periods of my life.

After returning from South Korea, I found myself balancing artistic practice with curatorial work and the growing activities of Porapara Space for Artists. Personally and collectively, it felt as though I was standing at a threshold between different stages of life.

At the same time, I began experimenting with the act of drawing itself.

Thousands of repeated dots and marks were placed by hand over long periods of concentrated work. Through this repetition, I became increasingly interested in how physical action could gradually transform mental awareness.

Across many spiritual traditions, repetitive actions such as prayer, chanting, or ritual movement often lead the mind toward stillness. I became less interested in the words themselves than in the repeated bodily action. While making these drawings, I realised that the creative process could function in a similar way.

For me, the process of making the artwork is often more significant than the completed image. The drawing preserves not only a visual composition, but also the rhythm of sustained attention through which it came into being.
