Artist’s Note
This drawing emerged during a period when I became increasingly aware that individual existence can never be separated from collective existence.
While many of my earlier works explored the relationship between the body and the universe, this drawing expands that inquiry toward society itself. I became interested in how every individual carries both conflicting impulses and the responsibility of living within a larger human community.
Many of the symbols in this work, including the serpents, floating islands, insects, clouds, and celestial space, were never intended as fixed allegories. They are fragments of an evolving visual language through which I explore the complexity of human experience.
The serpent holding a flower particularly interests me because it suggests that opposing qualities, gentleness and danger, creation and destruction, can coexist within the same living form. Likewise, the two-headed serpent reflects the internal dialogue that accompanies human consciousness.
Like the other ink drawings from this period, the work was built through thousands of repeated marks. The repetition itself became a contemplative discipline. Through sustained physical action, I discovered that the process of drawing could reshape attention and deepen awareness.
For me, the artwork is not only the final image but also the lived experience of its making.
